Director of Roastery Operations
Izzy has been working at CoRo as Director of Operations for over a year, and working at CoRo since 2016. As the Director of Operations, he ensures Member Roasters have the support, training, and tools they need to make their roasting operations successful. Izzy has been roasting coffee for 10 years, getting started at Highwire Coffee Roasters in 2008 as a barista and apprentice roaster. His roots in the Bay Area coffee scene run deep, having worked as Head Roaster for Highwire Coffee Roasters, Roast Co., and Bellwether Coffee. In addition to his work at CoRo, Izzy roasts for many local Bay Area coffee brands, is founder of Matchbook Coffee project, and enjoys playing instruments, seeing local shows, and hanging out at record stores.
Cafe Manager and Visionary
James Parrish's career in coffee has spanned five counties, seven cities, and nearly two decades. He has worn a plethora of hats: from barista, to working in production, and was a co-founder and lead roaster for the worker-owned collective Alchemy Collective Café- a current Member Roaster at CoRo. After working as a retail barista trainer at Blue Bottle Coffee, James co-created Rhetoric Coffee and began roasting at CoRo.
His time spent working at CoRo opened up a door for him to join the team, and he gladly dove through it. His unique skills as a career barista along with his abilities as a roaster have made him the perfect fit for our team as the Cafe Manager and Visionary at CoRo. His main duties include keeping the coffee room running like a well-oiled machine, but he also works to help develop future retail operations and opportunities for CoRo.
Daniel is a coffee educator here at CoRo. He works one-on-one with new roasters helping them learn the machines and general coffee roasting principles. Daniel is also available to assist in green selection, roast profiling, and blend development. Daniel has been roasting coffee for over a decade, and has worked as both owner and employee in virtually every aspect of the industry. Nowadays he enjoys demystifying the coffee roasting process, and questioning its sacred cows (they say moo). His main desire is to orient the coffee acolyte in their quest, and provide the tools they need to create something unique. When not elbow deep in beans, Daniel can be found at the local pool hall (loosing) or working on dubious photo commissions (it only looks like he's napping).
CoFounder and CEO
Floy, a CoFounder, heads up the organization relying on her extensive business management experience, dedicated focus, and knack for execution. She’s also an attorney. Before CoRo, she was VP, Associate General Counsel with Irvine Company in So.Cal. Through pure dedication, Floy managed to change directions mid-career and is now feeling very inspired by coffee and everyone making it so delicious and fun. She's a CQI-licensed Q Grader, has two kids and loves to get outdoors.
Tim, a CoFounder, is a long-time coffee enthusiast. He learned to roast in 2012 and along with Paul installed the company’s first roaster, a Loring Merlin, which was replaced by our first Loring Kestrel. Since then he’s had a strong hand in equipping the business and shaping its direction. Over the years he’s been the Executive Director of the Julia Morgan Theater, served on Berkeley’s Landmarks Commission and Energy Commission, and the board of Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association. He is also a past president of the Hillside Club.
Chairman of CoRo Board of Directors
Paul Goldstone is Chairman of the CoRo Board of Directors and its primary funder. He has been a coffee lover and roaster for years. In addition to CoRo, he owns and manages a number of interests in the Bay Area and is currently developing a new state-of-the-art Market Hall in downtown San Rafael.
